Video of Community Rally on October 20

If you missed the Fix the Links community rally on October 20, 2012 have a look at the video of my speech at the rally. I post it because it summarises our community's concerns about the regional rail link. The video is on Google docs so it may not be easy to access. Please be patient while i learn about this technology.

Flyer for Community Rally on October 20

Fix the links: Residents Rail Action Group is planning a community rally for Saturday October 20, 1 pm. We will meet at Ardeer station, Forrest Street (near car Laurence Street, Ardeer).

The Regional Rail Link is being built without addressing the increase in noise and pollution. With a train every three minutes at peak time, traffic will grind to a hault around Fitzgerald road and Station Road. The builders have cut down all the trees and there is no plan to replace them.

Our community needs to come together to make sure our neighbourhood is livable.

You will find the flyer for the community rally at the link below.

Flyer about Fix the Links: Residents Rail Action Group

In June 2012 over 80 people attended a public meeting to discuss the impact of the Regional Rail Link that was being built through our neighbourhood.

Many of us had spoken to the public relations officers for the Regional Rail Link Authority and the builders. We were frustrated that none of them were willing to discuss our concerns.

We established a group called Fix the Links: Residents Rail Action Group.

Our first flyer outlining our views can be found at the link below.

Introduction Fix Regional Rail Link

Residents in the corridor between Sunshine and Deer Park have a number of concerns about the new Regional Rail Link that will be built through our neighbourhood. This page is dedicated to articulating our concerns.

There are four main concerns that we have:
  • Noise
  • Access
  • Pollution, and
  • Liveability.
This blog will explain each one of these issues and propose some solutions. It aims to address the issues that are ignored by the public relations teams of the Regional Rail Link Authority and their partners.

The views expressed in this blog will be the views of the individuals who write and sign the articles.
